I'm Alex, founder of CAT JOY. Every scratcher I bought for my cat Alice crumbled or peeled within months — so in 2021 we started making one that lasts. Cardboard, wood and our own glue: a scratcher that looks like furniture and keeps its shape.

Cardboard

We tested 8 suppliers; most sheets crumbled or warped after gluing. We settled on dense Austrian board — 5 layers, cut and stacked by hand.

Glue

PVA can smell, and cats notice. We cook our own glue from starch and water — safe for claws and strong enough for years of scratching.

Design

Clean lines, inspired by the products we admire, and a shape that is comfortable to scratch, rest and play on. The wooden facade comes in brown, white or black, so the scratcher fits the room instead of hiding in a corner.

Made by hand

Laser-cut wooden facades in three colours, cardboard layers cut and stacked for gluing, every scratcher wrapped and boxed by hand in our workshop.
