Large & multi-cat

Most scratching posts are too short and too light for a big cat. A large cat scratcher has to take the full weight and the full stretch of a Maine Coon, Ragdoll, Norwegian Forest Cat or British Shorthair — and ideally of two cats at once. Mews (76 cm) is a two-level cardboard cat scratcher house with a hideaway underneath; Penthouse (L 85 × D 29 × H 39 cm) is our extra large cat scratcher house, made for multi-cat homes and giant breeds; and Terrace (77 cm) is the scratcher and bed for a young large cat — and, new on pre-order, the XL Manor and XXL Rotunda.

The rule is simple: the scratcher should be at least as long as your cat from nose to base of tail. See the numbers in what size cat scratcher does your cat need? or in the size guide.

All are handmade from dense 5-layer cardboard with a real wood facade in brown, white or black. Free ParcelShop delivery, 30-day returns and a 12-month guarantee.

Large cat scratcher FAQ

Do you make an extra large, heavy-duty cat scratching post?
Not a tall sisal one — ours are horizontal, which suits big cats: they stand on the board and pull back with their full weight. Penthouse and Manor are 85 cm long and the heaviest pieces we make, solid blocks of dense 5-layer cardboard that stay put, so they work as an extra large, heavy-duty scratching post for a Maine Coon that also sleeps on it.

Is there a cat scratching post with a bed for large cats?
Every model is both — the scratching surface is the bed. For a large cat, Terrace (77 cm) has a long bed on top and a tunnel below, Penthouse (85 cm) a flat XL bed on top and a cave inside, and Manor (85 cm, on pre-order) two levels: one to sleep on, one to hide in.

Which cat scratcher for a Maine Coon?
Our longest: Mews (76 cm), Penthouse (85 cm), or the new Manor and Rotunda (85 cm, on pre-order). Check that the deck is at least as long as your cat from nose to base of tail.

Will it slide or tip over?
No. The large models are the heaviest in the range and sit flat on the floor — Mews never tips when cats jump on, and nothing moves Penthouse, the heaviest of all.

Can two big cats share one?
Yes: Penthouse, Mews, Manor and Rotunda are made for two cats or one very large cat. Ideally each cat also has a spot of its own in another room.

Is cardboard strong enough for a heavy cat?
It is a solid block of dense 5-layer board, not a thin pad, and the 12-month guarantee covers structural failure under the weight of the cats each model is made for. Large cats also love cat scratcher houses and XL cat scratcher beds.
