1. Who we are

CAT JOY is the trading name of JD AMBER GROUP LIMITED (company number 15040315), registered office 59 Union Street, Dunstable, LU6 1EX, United Kingdom ("CAT JOY", "we", "us"). We are the data controller for personal data collected through https://catjoy.uk and our Shopify checkout. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with and the rights you have under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. What we collect

  • Order details: your name, delivery and billing address, email address, phone number, the items you ordered and the amount paid. Card and wallet payments are processed by Shopify Payments or PayPal; we never see or store your full card number.
  • Account and enquiry details: what you give us when you create a customer account, contact us by email, phone or WhatsApp, or ask for a wholesale price list.
  • Marketing preferences: your email address or mobile number if you sign up for our newsletter or SMS updates, and a record of your consent.
  • Reviews: the name, rating, text and any photos you choose to submit.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, how you reached our site and how you interact with pages, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see section 6).

3. How and why we use it

  • To process and deliver your order, send order and tracking updates and provide customer service — necessary to perform our contract with you.
  • To handle returns, refunds and our guarantee, and to keep accounting and tax records — necessary to comply with our legal obligations.
  • To send marketing emails or SMS — only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • To display customer reviews, improve our website and products, prevent fraud and measure our advertising — our legitimate interests, balanced against your rights.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not make automated decisions about you with legal or similarly significant effects.

4. Who we share it with

We share personal data only with providers who need it to run our shop:

  • Shopify, which hosts our website, checkout and customer accounts, stores customer and order data and processes payments through Shopify Payments (cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay).
  • PayPal, if you choose to pay with PayPal.
  • Delivery companies (Royal Mail, Evri and their partners), which receive your name, address and contact details to deliver your parcel and send tracking updates.
  • Klaviyo, which sends our email and SMS marketing.
  • Google (Google Analytics and Google Ads), Meta (Facebook and Instagram), TikTok and Microsoft Clarity, whose cookies and pixels are used for analytics, heatmaps and advertising only if you consent (see section 6).

Some of these providers process data outside the United Kingdom; where they do, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy regulations. We may also disclose personal data where the law requires it, for example to HMRC or a court.

5. Marketing

We send email or SMS marketing only if you have opted in. Every message includes an unsubscribe link or opt-out instruction, and you can also unsubscribe at any time by emailing hello@catjoy.uk. Order, delivery and account emails are service messages, not marketing, and are sent to every customer.

6. Cookies

Our website uses cookies. Essential cookies make the site, checkout and customer accounts work and are always on. Analytics and advertising cookies — Google Analytics, Google Ads, the Meta pixel, the TikTok pixel and Microsoft Clarity — are set only if you accept them in the cookie banner shown on your first visit. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the cookie settings link in our website footer.

7. How long we keep your data

  • Order, invoice and payment records: six years after the end of the financial year, as required by UK tax law.
  • Marketing contact details: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
  • Reviews: for as long as they are displayed on our website, unless you ask us to remove them.
  • Customer service correspondence: for as long as needed to resolve your enquiry and any follow-up, then up to two years.

8. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data erased where we no longer have a lawful reason to keep it;
  • restrict how we use your data;
  • receive the data you gave us in a portable format;
  • object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time;
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that took place before you withdrew it.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@catjoy.uk. We will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113, though we would welcome the chance to help first.

9. Children

Our shop is intended for adults. We do not target children under 16 and do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Security

Our website, checkout and customer accounts are hosted by Shopify and use encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Access to customer data is limited to those who need it to process orders and provide support.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time; the current version is always published at https://catjoy.uk with the date it was last updated.

12. Contact

JD AMBER GROUP LIMITED, trading as CAT JOY (company number 15040315, registered office 59 Union Street, Dunstable, LU6 1EX). Workshop: Windsor House, 9-15 Adelaide Street, Luton, LU1 5BJ, United Kingdom. Email: hello@catjoy.uk. Phone / WhatsApp: +44 7537 133317 (Monday to Saturday).

13. Google Customer Match

If you have consented to marketing, we also share your email address and phone number with Google in hashed (irreversible) form, through a service called Google Customer Match. This lets Google show you our ads, and lets us avoid advertising products you have already bought. Google matches the data against its own accounts, then deletes it, and may not use it for any other purpose. You can withdraw your consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by emailing hello@catjoy.uk.
