Overview
This website, https://catjoy.uk, and the Shopify checkout and customer accounts connected to it are operated by CAT JOY LTD ("CAT JOY", "we", "us", "our"), company number 17466936, registered office 3 Brassey Close, Peterborough, PE1 2AZ, United Kingdom. By visiting our site or buying from us, you agree to these Terms of Service together with our Privacy policy, Delivery policy and Returns, refunds and guarantee policy, which form part of these terms. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the site. Our store is hosted on Shopify, which provides the online platform that allows us to sell our products to you.
1. Online store terms
By placing an order you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and that the details you give us are accurate and complete. You must not use our site or products for any unlawful purpose, or transmit viruses or any code of a destructive nature. If you breach these terms we may cancel your order or refuse to serve you.
2. Our products
We sell handmade cat scratchers made from dense corrugated cardboard with a real wooden facade. Because they are handmade from natural materials, small variations in the wood grain, colour and finish are normal and are not defects. Colours may look different on different screens. Dimensions are given in centimetres and may vary by up to 1 cm.
3. Prices and payment
All prices are shown in pounds sterling (GBP) and include VAT where applicable. Delivery charges are shown at checkout and in our Delivery policy. Payment is taken at checkout through Shopify Payments (cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay) or PayPal; your card and PayPal details are handled by those providers and we do not store your full card number. We may change prices, products and services at any time without notice; changes do not affect orders we have already accepted.
4. Orders and contract
Your order is an offer to buy. We acknowledge it by email; a contract is formed when we send you a dispatch confirmation. We may refuse or cancel an order before dispatch — for example if a product is unavailable, if there is a pricing or description error, or if we suspect fraud — and if we have already taken payment we will refund it in full. All products are subject to availability; some colours are made to order and may need a few extra days, which we will tell you within one working day.
5. Delivery
Delivery costs, dispatch times and courier information are set out in our Delivery policy. Risk in the goods passes to you when they are delivered to the address you gave us; ownership passes when we receive payment in full.
6. Returns, refunds and guarantee
Your right to return goods, our 30-day returns policy, our 12-month guarantee and your statutory rights are set out in our Returns, refunds and guarantee policy.
7. Discount codes and promotions
Discount codes and automatic offers apply only during the period stated, cannot be exchanged for cash and cannot be combined unless we say otherwise. We may withdraw a promotion at any time; orders placed before withdrawal are honoured.
8. Accuracy of information
We try to keep the information on our site accurate and current, but it may contain typographical errors or omissions. If we discover an error in the price or description of a product you have ordered, we will tell you before dispatch and give you the choice of continuing at the correct price or cancelling for a full refund.
9. Reviews, photos and other submissions
If you submit a review, comment, photo or suggestion, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use, edit, publish and translate it in any medium, including on our website and in our marketing. You confirm that it is your own genuine opinion or work, does not infringe anyone's rights and contains nothing unlawful, abusive or misleading. We publish reviews from verified customers only and do not edit their meaning; we may remove submissions that breach these terms.
10. Intellectual property and prohibited uses
All content on the site — text, images, video, logos and the design of our scratchers — belongs to CAT JOY or its licensors and may not be copied or used commercially without our written permission. You must not use the site for any unlawful purpose, submit false information, upload malicious code, collect other people's personal information, or interfere with the security of the site.
11. Wholesale and trade customers
Orders placed by retailers, groomers, catteries and other trade customers are governed by the wholesale terms agreed in writing with the buyer, which take precedence over these terms where they differ.
12. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded by law, and nothing affects your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to receive goods that are of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. Subject to that, we are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable when the contract was made, for business losses, or for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control such as courier delays, strikes or severe weather, and our total liability in connection with an order is limited to the price you paid for it.
13. General
If any provision of these terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force. These terms, together with the policies referred to in them, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the site and any order you place. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. We may update these terms by posting a new version on this page; orders placed before a change are governed by the terms in force when you ordered.
14. Governing law
These terms and any contract between you and us are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes may be brought in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts, and you always keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the part of the UK where you live. If we cannot resolve a complaint, you may also use the online dispute resolution options available to UK consumers.
